My first attempt - Garland Based

Hi Peeps,

I stumbled upon Drupal about 2 weeks ago, and after a few hours of getting to grips with a totally different method of website creation I totally fell in love with the Drupals CMS. I think the way the front end and back end work together its simple fantastic, but above all what makes drupal work for me is the community support. If there is anything I can possibly think of to find help on, I've simple searched this site and there has been an answer. Open source works best when there is a huge community to support it, and the modules and support for modules here is second to none. I've worked with other Open source projects, most recently Magento Ecommerce and the community just isn't a patch on this one.

I'm 2 weeks in with Drupal and still have a lot more tweaking to go, but for any other new guys out there here is some advise - Get to grips with the Views Module - Its the DOGS!

Anyway, take a look at my site, and yes I know its kind of Garland with a few twists, but hey I tried Zen and a few others, but what can I say, I liked the feel of Garland, I know the CSS is not as clean as others and there are a few frustrations with working from Garland, but that's what the community is there for.

Ishigaki Japan

Hi there,

I currently live on the small Japanese island of Ishigaki. I've decided to set up an English portal for it. Content is a bit thin on the ground at the moment but I'd like to know what you think. There will be a right hand sidebar for advertising later - currently just trying to get it to appear in search results on google.

I started with the Amity Island theme and applied Nice Menus to the Primary Links area. This resulted in some flickering and unfortunately the menus only extend to a maximum of one level.

www.MyInvolved.com - Building an Online Community

Hello,

First of all, this is my first effort with Drupal and what an amazing CMS!

At first the complexities can seem overwhelming compare to other "simpler" CMS systems, but putting the time into learning how to manipulate Drupal is well worth the effort and can reward you with a much more "tailored" system than others.

The community are second to none in both knowledge and contributions. The sheer amount of modules available is astounding and will help new users start to realise their goals more quickly.

On to my site:

From Idea to Launch in 13 Days with Drupal

Only local images are allowed. src="http://drupal.org/files/issues/hotelfoo-screenshot-400x300-shadow.png"

HotelFoo is a community website for traveler reviews of hotels in China. It contains reviews for hotels in addition to contact information, maps, photos, and room reservations. Our aim is to be the best place to find information about accommodation in China. We picked Drupal because Drupal solves several difficult problems.

Website Development Express

We launched HotelFoo 13 days after coming up with the idea for the site. Drupal made this possible with its wealth of built-in features including user accounts, site search, form generator, easily-customizable UI theme system, and content management features.
