Best Practices For Custom Menu Function

I am creating a theme from a designer's mock-up. I'm running into a brick wall trying to change the output of a menu. I can't find good documentation on how to do this anywhere (and it's not for lack of searching!). I would appreciate your assistance on these questions.

NOTE: If I'm not asking the right questions, please let me know. I really want to do this the "Best Practices" way.

SCORM API module interest?

I am putting the feelers out to see what kind of interest there would be in development of a SCORM API module. Maybe a port of moodle's or something. So here's a few questions I hope to get responses on:

1. Who's interested?
2. What version of the scorm api is most requested?
3. What sort of expertise do people have to lend to the project?
4. When can we start?

Need help customizing submitted section in Drupal 6

Hello, I am creating a theme for Dupal 6 beta-4 and trying to change the way the $submitted section looks. Everything I find while searching seems to be for drupal 4.7. I realize that I can change node.tpl.php so that <?php print $submitted?> becomes <?php print $name; ?><?php print format_date($node->created, 'custom', 'd M Y'); ?> but that changes it for all node types including pages which do not need a date or author.

When is Drupal.org going to integrate OpenID?

I'm just curious as to when (or if for that matter), Drupal.org is going to support OpenID logins? I seems to be a big selling point for Dv6, and I know there is a 5.x module for it so I'm just curious as to why it isn't being used on here to maybe help promote it some.

Q: How to properly scale to handle more traffic

Hi - I've read a lot of topics on the site and am looking at switching to using Drupal, but my basic questions are:

What is the general way to scale in order to handle more traffic? More specifically:

a) If I need to throw more webservers into the mix, can Drupal handle this easily? (I've read that people are using rsync to mirror files from a master server).

b) What about the database? If I start adding webservers, will the database start getting creamed as a central point of failure? Does Drupal have built-in support for either replication or partitioning?
