Case Study: AVbarn (Oral History of Illinois Agriculture)

http://avbarn.museum.state.il.us/

The following is an abstract for a presentation I'll give in April:

The Illinois State Museum's Audio-Video Barn contains over 300 hours of oral history interviews pertaining to agriculture in Illinois. The interviews range in date from new sessions recorded in 2007-2009, to archival sessions recorded between 1952 and 1993. The memories recorded in these interviews stretch from 2009 back to the 1880s. Other associated data, such as photographs and transcriptions, are also available in the A-V Barn.

Two New Drupal Sites

I just wanted to share a couple of sites that I created using Drupal. My most recent site was created in Drupal 6 and Ubercart 2. The URL is:

http://www.influenceconcepts.com/

On this site, I used the Services module to connect a View to Flash as well as an RSS feed to retrieve daily quotes on the home page. It uses Ubercart 2.x and incorporates some JQuery rollover images and a customized Add to Cart form.

My first Drupal site was created in Drupal 5 with Ubercart 1.x whose URL is:

New Articles Directory Site - articleswire.net

It took me two weeks to built this site. This is my first drupal website. :) tested on ff 2.0, 3.0, ie 7,8. Page load is take sometime, maybe I should enable boost module?

Classifieds site up and running!

After a few weeks of tweaking, Ive finally got my very first classified ads site running. Overall, the process was time consuming (only because of the module refinement) but easy enough to get through.

http://www.midwestbargainhunter.com/

The site is running the Waffles theme with just a few css changes and a few image changes
The ability to take payment is handled by the ubercart module, via "node checkout". Various other UC modules were used for "roles", etc.
Imagecache, Lightbox, Views and panels are a few of the more "important" modules (of course)

I did learn alot (about drupal) in building this site, along with component modules, various tweaks and other "face-value" issues.
This is the first site I broke into Panels 3 on, and I have to say at first I didnt like it at all. But after using it for a week or two, It has much improved functionality and an over-all better "GUI" effect. -So thumbs up!
