One thing that has prevented me being able to use Drupal 5 was the huge amout of queries generated per page causing a big mysql bottleneck. This issue was happening on a pretty simple install with only a handful of common modules installed like image, path-auto, notify, no heavyweight modules like views.

Anyhow, as Drupal 6 is nearing completion, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the number of queries generated per page has dropped, and does the built in block caching reduce the query count by any significant amount ?

what choose node from other database by means of api drupal, presently do by db_set_active, but is not got, happens to through standard php, better certainly this function in node_load to add, through second parameter, but this in the future

OK here's the question

How easy or difficult would it be to merge multiple drupal sites into one? I'm looking at possibly merging 2 or 3 sites into one.

I am *very* early in the development stages of an application that will pull information from various sources (mainly social networks like facebook, opensocial sites, myspace, etc) and allow users to associate all of their "friends" from those sites into a single "contact" that has up-to-date information about them.
