GigIndie.com - A venue review site for independent musicians.

GigIndie.com is a venue review site for independent musicians. Think of it like a yelp for music venues. So, if you are going on tour and would like to play a show in San Francisco, you can search for the highest rated venues in the San Francisco area. Venues are rated on the main factors of Payment, Production, Crowd, Staff, Promoter, and Overall Impression. Other information is also listed, such as the crowd age and how much bands get paid. It is important to note that this website is geared toward musicians and not concertgoers (at this point in time).

After 4-5 months of development and learning drupal, I finally launched this site today. Considering that this is the first site I've ever built, I'm quite proud of how it has turned out (so far...we all know that this is a never-ending process). I guess I'm lucky in that I virtually stumbled onto Drupal because our original, cheapo webhosting offered it as an installation option. And wow, was it the best stumble I could have made.

All content on the website is user driven - users add venues that they have played at to the site, and then all users on the site are able to review that venue if they have also played at it. Users can also upload live images and videos of them performing at the venues to the individual venue pages.

Feednanga : New feed and newsletter management service

I have been using Feedburner for many times without seeing it improving. Then I decided to create my own feed and newsletter management service with many options in my mind. The Feednanga was born. Built on Drupal 7.

http://www.feednanga.com

I started building the service on may and made the public beta testing available on july. It is not a real beta test because the service is ready and is doing well what it actually does. If I still keep the beta label, it is because I want to see how it may work with a great number of feeds.

Here are what Feednanga can do for you:
- Publish your feed from our server instead of using yours.
- Automatically correct the "bad starting character" bug in your feed
- Send newsletters to your subscribers
- Proposes a daily subscription or a "per news" subscription. The "per news" subscription sends emails each time a post is published.
- Allows you to impose a category hierarchy to your newsletter for the daily mail, so that content is grouped in categories
- Includes sharing button in emails, including a viral approach for share by email where email shared looks exactly like the original and keep the same sharing button.

Many options are to be added. Actually, Feednanga is free. Later, It may cost for those who have more than 1000 unique subscribers.

A shop with postcards.

Hi all,

I just released a shop with postcards with kokeshi dolls. You can view it here:

Kokeshi shop - postcards

The English version (just click on a kokeshi doll in a costume made from a British flag) is not ready yet (will be released tommorow), I'm still working on Ubercart and making it work in two languages, two currecies, etc. I think I found a simple solution to the problem.

Responsive portfolio site for sculpture artist

Just launched http://matthewharding.com.au for the Australian artist Matthew Harding.

It was a hard decision to choose between Wordpress or Drupal as this type of site is well suited to Wordpress. However, as usual, the flexibility of Drupal was the deciding factor.

It looks great on screen, tablet or mobile. Had alot of fun developing this site.

Line by line story/script writing!

Making Some Fun

The site is based on the idea of collaborative story writing where each player takes a turn writing the next line in the story/script.

My proudest little snippet of code is getting the comment form to only show when viewing the last page of the pager (so that I know the user has seen the last line in the story before they write their own line).

Check it out!
